When people think of UFC fighters, they think arrogant jerks with big egos. Well, that's not necessarily true! There are actually a lot of admirable, respectful athletes in the UFC.I have a role model in the UFC. His name is Matt Hughes and he is one of the best, if not the best, fighters in the UFC. The picture to the right is Matt Hughes. He is a full christian, family man, honorable, and seems like a great guy. He is straight forward when being interviewed and is such a respectful fighter. Not to mention, he is a straight up country boy from Hillsborro, IL. :) He wrote a book and in it he confessed his mistakes, so you can look at him as a human being not just a fighter. He has made mistakes, but he has owned up to them as well.
Just because people fight for a living doesn't mean they are horrible people. They have values and thoughts and they make choices. Some are bad, but then again some are really good. I am sure there are kids and adults all over the world who look up to fighters. People who disagree with fighting and want to end it need to realize that they will be firing some kids role model.
Lots of girls watch it because of the cute guys without shirts on and that's all they see. That is not why I watch it. I mean yes, they are cute and look good without their shirt on :), but when you hear them being interviewed you can tell what kind of person they are. Fighters like Tito Ortiz and B.J. Penn are NOT role models. They are the arrogant jerks that make the sport look bad. People like Matt, Spencer Fisher, Rich Franklin, Randy Couture, and Matt Riddle are the role models of the UFC. They are guys who don't talk crap and are respectful, admirable fighters. A lot of people would disagree that any fighter was a role model.
What do you think about Matt Hughes? Do you think he sounds like a role model?
He seems like a good person, so yeah, He does seem like a role model.
ReplyDeleteI think he sounds like a great role model. I thik he sounds like a well mannered guy who is down to earth. What you said about him really makes me, and probably other people, realize that anyone can be a role model.
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cool that fighters have a side to them that is different from what you see while they're actually fighting. It kind of backs up that whole saying about not judging a book by it's cover. Cliche, I know, but it's true. He seems like a respectable guy, and I think he should be considered a role model.
